Ah, Johnny Splendor, the man with the golden voice. Rumour has it that Dutch won Johnny's contract in a craps game in Vegas, but the truth as I know it is far more interesting. I believe John was sharing a place with some local musicians who had a brainstorm: They knew Johnny had a voice like Tom Jones from listening to him in the shower, so why not do a tribute to Tom Jones. The catch is, do it in clown costumes! Ha-ha-ha, the laughs they must have had draming this up. But it became a reality known as Bozo Nose Jones. And it was brilliant. With the legendary Mike Farrell (of Daisy Spot and Sex 66) on guitar, they were one of the best bands in Sacto for a while. Too bad they broke up, but it was good for Dutch & Co., who snapped Mr. Splendor up.
That's about all I know of the mysterious Johnny Splendor, who keeps a low profile around town.
